Tristan Rhodeside is 15 years old and began playing the violin at age 4.  Since then his musical ambitions have led him to sing, dance, conduct and play piano.  Tristan can be seen around Brevard County playing his violin as a 5 year veteran of the Brevard Symphony Youth Orchestra, in the pit for Satellite, Merritt Island and Edgewood high school musicals, as part of the Grazia String Quartet, solo and duet performances with his sister and in All-County orchestra for the past 4 years.  Tristan has made Florida All-state Orchestra for 2009 and 2010 as well.  He had attended Canon Music Camp at Appalachian State in Boone, NC for the past 2 years.  Tristan was a prizewinner in the Space Coast Pops Young Artists Competition in June 2010.  In addition, he was chosen to perform for the Inaugural Season of the Space Coast Symphony Orchestra. Tristan is a Sophomore at Satellite High school where he is a member of both the school's symphonic orchestra and chamber group.  He studies with Dana Beattie and Professor Ayako Yonetani.

What is your favorite aspect about being a musician?  I like being a musician because of the people you meet that have your same appreciation for what you love to do.

Which composers most inspire you?  I do love Bach, he makes so much sense musically; and also Kreisler.

What is your favorite recording?  I like the Oistrakh recording of the Kabalevsy Violin Concerto in C because he takes it at such a ridiculous speed.

What piece are you looking forward to most in the SCSO's 2010 - 2011 Season?  I am looking forward to A Night on Bald Mountain by Mussorgsky and The Moldau by Smetana.
