Symphony & Playhouse Singers Present ‘An Enchanted Evening’
Rodgers & Hammerstein Classics Concert is October 23rd
(Merritt Island, FL) October 8, 2010 – The 75-piece Space Coast Symphony and the Cocoa Village Playhouse will present “An Enchanted Evening of Rodgers and Hammerstein Classics” at 6 p.m. on Saturday, October 23rd at the First Baptist Church, 140 Magnolia Avenue in Merritt Island. The co-production will feature cast members from the Cocoa Village Playhouse and a 50-voice chorus. The special concert is licensed by the Rodgers and Hammerstein Organization and contains more than twenty songs by the well-known songwriting duo, including tunes from Oklahoma!, Carousel, South Pacific, State Fair, The King & I and The Sound of Music. The two had a string of Broadway hits in the 1940s and 1950s during what is considered the golden age of the Musical. The lyrics of Oscar Hammerstein and melodies of Richard Rodgers’ still have audiences humming today. $20 advance tickets may be purchased online at www.SpaceCoastSymphony.org, at the offices of Blue Sky Insurance in Cocoa Village and Tropical Realty of Suntree. The Space Coast Symphony and Conductor Aaron Collins are gearing up for a concert-filled year. “An Enchanted Evening” marks the third of eight subscription concerts planned through March 2011. This program is one of many collaborative efforts planned for the 2010/11 Season. Collins explains:
