The Space Coast Symphony Orchestra is excited to be teaming up with the wonderfully talented youth musicians of the Brevard Symphony Youth Orchestra. The program will feature both orchestras and a special joint performance of works by Copland, Verdi, Mascagni, Enesco, and Holst. The Space Coast Symphony Orchestra will present Dmitri Shostakovich’s revolutionary Symphony No. 5. Shostakovich wrote, “The theme of my Fifth Symphony is the making of a man. I saw man with all his experiences in the center of the composition . . . In the finale the tragically tense impulses of the earlier movements are resolved in optimism and joy of living.” |
