Dramatic Season Finale for Space Coast Symphony
‘The Drama in Music’ March 19th is emotional powerhouse

(Merritt Island, FL) March 7, 2011 – The Space Coast Symphony Orchestra will close their 2010/11 Season with one of their largest concerts to date, “The Drama in Music” on Saturday, March 19th at 7 PM at the First Baptist Church, 140 Magnolia Avenue in Merritt Island. The concert opens with Modest Mussorgsky’s magnificent and wildly popular Night on a Bald Mountain, followed by the important 20th Century epic tone poem by Richard Strauss’s, Death and Transfiguration. The performance and regular Season will close with Prokofiev’s unforgettable music from the ballet, Romeo and Juliet.  $10 tickets may be reserved or purchased in advance online prior to March 12, 2011 at the offices of Blue Sky Insurance in Cocoa Village and Tropical Realty of Suntree, or by calling (321) 536-8580.  Tickets purchased after March 12, 2011 are priced at $15; under 18 years of age admitted free.

The Space Coast Symphony’s young conductor, Aaron Collins, thinks it a fitting ending to the symphony’s second Season.

"If you crave drama and excitement, look no further,” said Collins. “This concert is one of our biggest to date and will push the musicians and myself to our limits.  There is nothing to compare to the ferocity of Night on a Bald Mountain, the awe-inspiring beauty of Death & Transfiguration, and the sheer drama of Romeo & Juliet."

Close on the heels of the powerful “Icons in Music”, this concert marks the final of eight subscription events planned through March 2011.  The ambitious conductor also plans dozens of ensemble performances throughout Brevard with various musicians from the orchestra.  For more information about the recently announced Summer Series or the “The Drama in Music” concert, visit www.SpaceCoastSymphony.org or call (321) 536-8580.
