Connie Murray has a Bachelor of Science Degree and Master of Science Degree in Music Education having studied at the Crane School of Music, State University of New York at Potsdam.  Doctoral studies were continued with the State University of New York at Buffalo.

Connie has over thirty years experience in teaching stringed instruments including teaching at the college level at the Crane School of Music.   She has performed in numerous chamber orchestras and pit orchestras and with such people as Robert Shaw, Sarah Caldwell, Virgil Thomas, Johnny Mathis, and Clay Aiken.   She has performed with the Northern New York String Quartet and the Genesee Valley Orchestra on two European tours and two tours in China with the Montivani Orchestra.

In addition to performing with the Space Coast Symphony, Connie is a member of the Daytona Beach Community Orchestra, the Space Coast Pops Orchestra, and the Montivani Orchestra.

What is your favorite aspect about being a musician?  Playing with great musicians and performing as close to the composer's wishes as possible.

Which composers most inspire you?  Composers that inspire me are any of the great Russians.

What is your favorite recording(s)?  My favorite recording is of Izaak Perlman performing Paganini Caprices.

What piece are you looking forward to most in the SCSO's 2010 - 2011 Season?   The piece I most am looking forward to this season is the one I have performed three times as soloist, Mendlessohn's Violin Concerto.
