

Alistair Watson (17) is a Senior at Satellite Beach High School. Originally from Australia, he has been living in the United States since he was nine years old. He began playing the violin when he was eight and has played in many symphony orchestras, pit orchestras, ensembles and quartets both in New Jersey as well as in Florida.
Currently, Watson is the Concertmaster of the Philharmonic Orchestra in the BSYO, a member of the Space Coast Symphony, a member of Grazia String quartet, and Concertmaster of Satellite High School’s Symphony Orchestra and Chamber Orchestra.
He recently was a winner in BSYO’s 2010 Concerto competition and a finalist in 2010 in “Brevard’s Got Talent”. He plans to continue his music studies at college with a double major in performance and music education.
Watson studies violin with Igor Markstein. He also enjoys surfing and skateboarding in his spare time.
What is your favorite aspect about being a musician? Playing in large orchestras and connecting and sharing the love of music with other musicians.
Which composers most inspire you? Wagner and Beethoven
What is your favorite recording? Beethovens Symphony No. 9 performed by the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra (which i also saw live).
What piece are you looking forward to most in the SCSO's 2010 - 2011 Season? Igor Markstein playing Mendohlsson Violin Concerto in E minor.
