¡Latin Fiesta! Makes Summer Sizzle in Vero Beach
Space Coast Symphony launches Summer Series June 5th
(Vero Beach, FL) May 23, 2011– A hot day in June just got hotter! The 70-piece Space Coast Symphony Orchestra will launch their Summer Concert Series with ¡Latin Fiesta! on Sunday, June 5th at 3 PM at the Community Church of Vero Beach, 1901 23rd Street, 32960. This sizzling program reveals the soul of Latin music and begins with the thrilling rhythms and rich, exciting orchestration of George Gershwin’s Cuban Overture. Jules Massenet’s ballet suite from the second act of his opera Le Cid is a picturesque tour of seven distinct regions of Spain. Then virtuoso violinist Suliman Tekalli joins the SCSO to perform the Carmen Fantasy, one of the most famous and technically demanding works for the violin. Finally, audiences will groove and move to Morton Gould’s Symphonette No. 4 (Latin American) and Alberto Ginastera’s romp, Danza Final. $20 advance tickets may be purchased online at www.SpaceCoastSymphony.org, or at one of three convenient Vero Beach ticket outlets: Marine Bank & Trust (beachside and mainland branches) and Madison Avenue Consignments. Tickets at the door are an additional $5. Students18 years of age and under admitted free.
Conductor Aaron Collins is excited to bring the Space Coast Symphony to Vero Beach. They are the only orchestra in the Southeastern United States performing subscription concerts throughout the summer months.

The Space Coast Symphony will continue performing through the summer with concerts in June, July and August. About Suliman Tekalli, violinist— Young American violinist, Suliman Tekalli was born in Daytona Beach, Florida and moved to the city of Orlando, where he began studying the violin at the age of three. His teachers include Lev Gurevich, Ayako Yonetani, as well as Hyo Kang of Juilliard and Sergiu Schwartz. At sixteen, he appeared in his formal debut with the Orlando Philharmonic, performing the Sibelius Concerto and had since then appeared with numerous orchestras around the United States. He has also received numerous prizes and awards such as being featured on National Public Radio's show "From the Top", as well as first prize in the Blount National String Competition, which led to his invitation to the Boston University Tanglewood Institute where he served as concertmaster as well as performed in a special concert in Ozawa Hall. He was also a prizewinner in the Szeryng International Violin Competition in Mexico, leading to concerts throughout Mexico with the Orquesta Sinfonica del Estado de Mexico. Among the conductors whom he has collaborated with: Berislav Skenderovic, Hal France, Aaron Collins, Andrew Lane, Laszlo Marosi, Albert E. Moehring, and Mario Rodriquez Taboada. He performs in recitals and chamber concerts regularly across the United States, collaborating often with his sister, pianist Jamila Tekalli. Currently, he lives in Columbus, Georgia.
About the Space Coast Symphony Orchestra— The SCSO is a lively and passionate Central Florida professional-level orchestra comprised of professional musicians and select youth players.
